The following day, Leah and I did some final shooting for our collaboration by creating flat lays that we could use as filler images and additional visuals that still fit our aesthetic of the Covid Lockdown Bedroom. We used our shared Pinterest Board for inspiration and I have included a collage of these images below.
This blog post provides detailed analysis, reflection and more prominent images of mine and Leah’s flat lays (relevant to page 37 in my sketchbook).
Below I have included our flat lays which we will include as filler images for our collaboration;
The first is the classic ‘messy’ chair that holds garments worn once and which have grown into a significant pile.
Below are a pile of dishes that we shot both on the carpet and on a plain white surface, we felt that the carpet suited our bed setting images better and held more of a grunge effect.
Above I have experimented with editing and removing the background from this first flat lay. I really like how this looks after editing and I would love to include text running around the perimeter of the plate in a final layout for idem.
We experimented with placing the ashtray on top of a magazine to emulate the ‘bedside table’ from our bed setting images but this proved difficult to shoot.
Above I have again experimented with removing the background from an object included in the flat lay, and although these are not my favourite images from my shoot I feel that they help add to the overall narration of the photoshoot.
Below are images of my favourite flat lay that we created. I love how the reflection of the glass vase appears almost like smoke making the action of the hand holding the cigarette seem much more realistic. These will definitely be included in my magazine as a part of the collaboration.
