Today the textiles and fashion students finalised the line up for our collaborative collection, ‘Fugol’. Our collection takes inspiration from classic British birds, following Burberry’s ethos of Britishness. It also references 80’s sportswear and soft corsetry to create a strong juxtaposition. I can’t wait to make a start on creating our finalised look book, due to not having the finalised garments we may take a different route for presenting our collections aesthetics and we may face some challenges that we will have to overcome.
We love the idea of creating a ‘show in a box’, and I also love the idea of creating a brochure with written content to help convey the strong bird persona’s we have developed. I also want to develop my illustration and graphic skillset and so I may go on to experiment with using different mediums to achieve this.
Below I have included the final line up.
Below I have included my favourite styled outfits from the collection. The left image demonstrates garments inspired from the kingfisher and magpie; I love how by blending the two birds it is highlighted that the collection is cohesive and can be mixed together to create a full look. To the right is a styled outfit inspired by the pigeon, as opposed to the previous outfit this demonstrates how outfits can also be constructed solely from one specific bird without appearing overwhelming.
