Anatomy Of Type

Using the 5 design principles i created hand drawn but structured fonts for each word.

I also researched the anatomy of type and labelled the Handglovery word. I found this task interesting as i was unaware that it existed in such detail. I found that each letter and type was called something for example the line in the centre of the letter H is called a Crossbar.

Snaps Fanzine

Snaps Fanzine

Knowing i wanted to base my project and final fanzine on Youth Culture i began researching different current fanzines which included either photography or illustration, two things that i wanted to include in mine to make it more visually interesting and unique.

I looked at fanzines which i felt captured or illustrated how the youth really are today. All the illustrated zines had quirky illustrations with amusing meanings behind them. Looking at these zines inspired me to do my own drawings perhaps of self portraits with quotes or writing with i felt related to me on a personal level.

Tate

I visited the Tate galleries in London to get inspiration for the AD138 module and the images above show the pieces i was most influenced by. Before visiting the galleries i was unaware on what i wanted the theme of my final zine to be on however going to the galleries gave me a range of ideas for my work such as Youth Culture, Street Fashion, The Body, Colour and Social Media.

French inspired shoot 3:

These images are from my third photo-shoot shot in the studio. I Shot and styled my model and experimented with movement and lighting by putting coloured acetate over the studio lights and slow shutter speed settings on my dslr camera.

I styled my model in beret, glasses, red jumper accessorized with a belt, fishnet tights and heels. The idea of the shoot was to capture the body of my model by accentuating her features. I styled her in less clothing to link to the erotic mood and style, using the colour red to further express this.

Night time shoot 2:

To experiment with night photography and shoot photographs inspired by Helmut Newton I shot and styled my model in ways that I felt expressed a vintage French style. For location I choose to shoot my model in an isolated park walkway as It had a quiet atmosphere and warm lighting that was coming from Parisian looking streets lamps which I felt had a link to the story behind my shoot. Although the location was quiet it also allowed me to capture the busy street and car lights in the background which added movement and a blur effect, allowing my model to be the sole focus.

I styled my model in a white shirt and stripped blouse which was inspired by watching how women In French movies dressed such as Coco Chanel. I found from watching this movie that designers such as Coco dressed In shirts and blouses to look more masculine instead of feminine. I liked the whole masculine look and choose to recreate this in my shoot. I added to this by styling my models hair, applying harsh make up and giving her a classic cigarette to pose with.
