Sarah Lucas’ work focuses a lot on self portraits and to me represents identity. What stands out to me the most in her images are often the objects she is holding, what she is wearing and how she is posing. I think they equally stand out because the they all link for example she is often smoking, wearing androgynous clothing with her legs open. As you keeping looking you begin to focus on other elements  such as her facial expression, objects in the background and the food on her clothing. When looking at the images of her t shirt with fried eggs on her chest I think she was using the food to represent body parts and used the breast as they are often sexualised. I think what the photographs tell me about Sarah Lucas is she is an artist who is challenging sterotypes of gender and sexuality. I think the images are made to pocess powerful feminity and are a mixture of both masculine and feminine. They make you question why do we feel sitting with legs apart as manly and unladylike and why do we assume someones sexuality because of how they are dressed and look? Her expressions and body language are also very stern, with a serious mood which is emphasised by the way she staring at the camera. I also like how she makes self portraits of objects that represent and show her indentity without using her body and face.
