The first Gallery I visited was ‘The Photographers Gallery’. Two of the Photographers that I was unaware of before visiting were Dana Lixenberg and Roger Mayne and they happened to produce the work I felt most inspired by. Above are the 4 images by Dana that I enjoyed the most, the images to me were interesting as they captured real people in real life situations. I was also intrigued by the stories behind the images and the use of diverse people she choose to photograph. The black and white images made me want to experiment with film photography and want to go out onto the streets and photograph strangers. Roger Maynes images were similar in the respect they captured real people in film photography. His photographs were taking in the 50’s and 60’s in the streets of London.
Not only was i impressed with the quality of the photographs but there were many elements that made me admire them even more. From the portraits, models, locations and fashion. The photographs related to my urban style and fascination. The clothes the models were wearing inspired me to do a similar shoot which i styled in a similar way. The other galleries i visited were Saatchi and Tate.
