The Creative Research Methods Group would like to invite you to join us for another vibrant symposium on creative research methods on Tuesday 16th January 2024 13:00-14:30 GMT on Microsoft Teams. This session features:
- David Heineman, Commonwealth University Bloomsburg – ‘Scholarship and Affect: Fostering Public Discussion of Collective Memory through Documentary Film’
What rhetorical strategies might humanities scholars consider when looking to meaningfully engage contemporary shifts in our public communication culture? This presentation will address how the experience of creating and screening the regional historical documentary NEPADOC (2023) offers some possible answers to this question. You can watch David’s film in advance of the session by requesting access here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ef8ekWr6KF1IyhyrOr5NHAVnx6UfVtSP/view?usp=share_link
- Tom Roberts, University of Brighton – ‘Making Comics in Participatory Research: Two Case Studies’
Comics are increasingly being used as tools in social research, from creative approaches to generating data to the dissemination of findings. This presentation will discuss two projects that explore participatory comics-making as a way to understand people’s experiences of co-production in social care, mental health and housing services.
The group is supported by the Centre for Arts and Wellbeing. It is open to all who share our passion for creative methods and our desire to provide a supportive, stimulating space within which to explore these. No advance sign-up is required; just turn up on the day if you wish to join us.
