The Creative Research Methods Group invite you to join us for another vibrant symposium on creative research methods on Tuesday 3rd March 2026 14:00-15:30 GMT on Microsoft Teams.
This session features:
Nick Gant, University of Brighton – ‘”Sole Searching” – Shoes and Stories of Waste and Want’
This talk will explore the generation of research artefacts; shoes made from waste materials, this is a process we refer to as ‘in-forming things’. The shoes provide a conduit to explore human connections to the material world.
Vanessa Marr, University of Brighton – ‘Researching Everyday Experiences of Unpaid Care: A Collection of Embroidered Dusting Cloths
This talk will present an innovative account of creativity and protest, viewed through the lens of the award-winning Domestic Dusters research project, which tactically positions a duster as a surprising, unconventional and impactful tool for research. It will reflect on an IAA funded community partnership that invited unpaid carers to embroider their experiences of care onto these cloths, which were displayed and presented to politicians at the Welsh Parliament.
The group is supported by the Centre for Arts and Wellbeing. It is open to all who share our passion for creative methods and our desire to provide a supportive, stimulating space within which to explore these. No advance sign-up is required; just turn up on the day if you wish to join us.
