Summary

The Creative Research Methods Group invite you to join us for a vibrant symposium on creative research methods on Monday 13th October 2025 14:00-15:30 BST on Microsoft Teams.

This session features:

Emma C (community researcher), Gail Butler (Justlife), Elle Whitcroft (Brighton and Sussex Medical School) & Emma Anderson (University of Brighton) – ‘Using Rivers of Life to Explore Barriers and Sources of Support for Women’s Mental Health Through Homelessness and Housing Transitions’

The creative, participatory method of Rivers of Life (ROL) can facilitate personal reflections and group discussions in a safe, accessible way. We present a recent community-led project that used ROL to foreground lived experience voice and expertise when exploring barriers and solutions for women’s mental health while experiencing homelessness and housing transitions

Martina B. Diehl (Durham University) – ‘Poetic Perspectives: Poetic Inquiry Brought my Participants’ Voices to Life‘

Martina will explore how poetic inquiry shaped their thematic analysis and amplified participants’ voices as they created poems from their survey and interview responses in an exploratory thesis on creative and critical engagement with poetry in upper secondary school education.

The group is supported by the Centre for Arts and Wellbeing. It is open to all who share our passion for creative methods and our desire to provide a supportive, stimulating space within which to explore these. No advance sign-up is required; just turn up on the day if you wish to join us.
