Manual Handling

Manual handling injuries can occur when you attempt to lift items or equipment that is too heavy for you to carry or if you lift items incorrectly.

please ensure you adhere ot the correct lifiting technique to avoid injury:

1. bend your knees keep your upper body upright, this will allow you to use your legs to lift, rather than your back

2. grip the load and lift using your legs

3. carry load to required destination and lower the load using the same steps.

Keep in mind:
  1. Do not attempt to lift by bending forward. Bend your hips and knees to squat down to your load, keep it close to your body, and straighten your legs to lift.
  2. Never lift a heavy object above shoulder level.
  3. Avoid turning or twisting your body while lifting or holding a heavy object.
