So it has been a few days since I have added to my blog, but that does not mean that I have not been hard at work!
I have spent the last couple days learning to use V-Ray, a render programme that I decided to buy, it has been a great investment although it is taking some time getting used to how it works. My next step is to learn how to do a virtual reality environment with the software and hopefully get a few sections of my masterplan as a prototype.
My latest task has been creating my masterplan within sketchup, I wanted to use sketch up so that I could have my masterplan in 3D making it easier for at the later stage of playing around with sun lighting, shadowing and also for general presentation of the final product.
To get started firstly, I imported a Digimaps layout of the existing site into Sketchup so that I could get to grips with the area that I had and start to plan what I was going to do. I highlighted in green some of the existing structures that I am considering keeping and marking out the existing roads in brown. Something I noticed with Santons proposal is the lack of effort in trying to keep some of the existing structures. I haven’t decided which structures I want to keep yet but atleast now I can start to get a visual of their locations.
I took out the south-east structure as I wanted to keep santons Health Hub design within my masterplan. I like its design, its layout, and the location it is in, for that reason I will not be editing it.
Next, I am developing my main part of my masterplan, the Phoenix Quarter. The Phoenix Quarter focuses on small creative businesses and bringing them together. It is aimed at reviving what once was within the workshops of NSQ.
