The work in progress of a collaborative call funded by the University of Brighton Creative Futures was presented on day 1 of the recent Creative and Radical Futures Symposium Day One 5 July 2021 | Collaborative Research in the Arts and Science (brighton.ac.uk) The aim for this project is to work across the subjects of art and science on a joint project, between staff and students, called ‘MobileImage’. Louise Colbourne in the School of Art is working with Ganesh Sharma and Emily Wojciechowska-Watson, two students from the MA Graphic Design course, to develop a small interactive installation exhibition at the Dorset Place gallery space. They are exploring modes of developing interactive and immersive designs for exhibition, based on the visual experimental research data, given to them by Steven Begg and Nwabueze Emekwuru from the Advanced Engineering Centre at Brighton. Using 3D effects and animation software they plan to create an interpretation of the flow-patterns of the data from the scientific research and to communicate the functionality of the particle/droplet movement through projected graphics. Audience members are invited to interact with the display. The students will be able to develop their own visual responses within the animated sequences and explore new modes of production to create the desired effects and test out the requirements for interactivity.
Emily is also exploring creative coding and UX design to show the flow visualisations.
while Ganesh is looking into modes of interaction between analogue key-board/synth and the on-screen movement.
