First-year Sport Journalism BA student, Cara Graham, was picked out to work for Brighton and Hove Albion for their home match against Southampton on 29 November.
Four days earlier, Cara was one of more than 90 sport journalism trainees attending the Lewes v Dover Athletic match at The Dripping Pan, as part of the Belong at Brighton scheme.
Every student submitted a matchday photo for a chance to work at a Premier League match, and Cara’s successful entry took her straight to The Amex press box to work for BHAFC’s media team.
“To be working in a Premier League press box just a couple of months into her degree is a fantastic experience for Cara,” said Owen Evans, Sport Journalism MA course leader. “There are lessons learned there that cannot be replicated in the lecture room.”
Brighton’s home match against Southampton was part of the Premier League’s Rainbow Laces campaign to highlight commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion.
Belong at Brighton Extra is a fund supporting curriculum enhancement and engagement activities which enable students to develop a Sense of Belonging to their cohort.
