“Amy Cunningham is a wonderful and conscientious teacher and artist, encouraging and advising me a lot.”
Please tell us a bit about your work and your influences
My work is an exploration of Chinese women’s identity based on the study of Chinese New Year paintings, and outside of my studies I volunteered at the 2023 Turner Prize and at compass art in Eastbourne, taking part in collaborative projects to incorporate my own artistic language!
Art work above:
- The Subconsious Power, Watercolor on Canvas 2023 20×20cm
- Environmental Friendliness, Acrylics on Canvas 2024 80×100cm
- Awakening, Oils on Canvas 2023 65×80cm
- Newborn, Watercolor on Paper 2023 21×30cm
Can you tell us about your favourite part of your studies and how it helped the development of you and your practice.
My favourite part of the course was the mentoring, where each student was assigned a mentor based on his or her field of study, during which the mentor communicated with me about my artwork and I was able to learn about the artist’s creative thinking and practice.
