University of Brighton students have secured original artwork from International artists and stars for an auction of postcards.
Artists including Led Zeppelin’s cover artist George Hardie, Chris Riddell, Riitta Ikonen, John Vernon Lord, Marion Deuchars; and illustrators Ian Wright and Jason Ford plus entertainers such as Russell Brand, have all contributed work. Work from an Internationally famous British artist will also feature and will be announced at the auction.
All have created postcard artwork for tomorrow’s (9 Dec) auction to raise funds for the School of Art’s Graphic Design and Illustration London Show next summer. Marketing, funding and running a summer show forms part of their course.
Postcards from the talented student artists on the courses will also be sold at the auction.
The students were thrilled with the positive responses. Student Sara Lavelle said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support and donations that we have received from the art and illustration community. This project has been a lot of hard work but the amazing donations we are now able to put up for auction have made it incredibly special.”
Bids for the ‘StampedBrighton’ works can be taken in person at Friend’s Meeting House in Ship Street, Brighton, from 11am on Saturday, 9 December, or over the phone on 07900987780. Bids start at £5. There will be a ‘buy it now’ price option for keen purchasers.
