International Transgender Day of Visibility

Statement of support for Transgender Day of Visibility

Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) takes place on Sunday 31 March and, as members of Brighton & Hove Equality & Inclusion Partnership (EquIP), we wanted to share the following statement from EquIP to demonstrate our support and recognition of the contributions and struggles of the transgender and non-binary community.

“We express our support for International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV), which takes place annually on 31 March. This day is dedicated to celebrating transgender, nonbinary and gender non-conforming peoples, raising awareness of the discrimination they face worldwide, and recognizing their valuable contributions to our society.

TDOV serves as a reminder of the resilience, strength, and diversity within the transgender and nonbinary communities and celebrates the unique experiences and identities of TNBI peoples as well as to honour their courage in living authentically and openly in the face of society’s challenges.

In Brighton & Hove and across Sussex we value the contributions of our transgender and non-binary staff, residents & the diverse communities they are from and recognise the commitment they add to the vibrancy of third-sector support of our city. Their advocacy, activism, and presence enrich our city and we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where all individuals can thrive.

As an organisation dedicated to promoting diversity, equality, and social justice, we stand in solidarity with our trans and non-binary communities on TDOV and every day. We affirm our commitment to fostering a culture of acceptance and respect for all.”
