Summary

Free online symposium on creative research methods on 25th February 2025.

The Creative Research Methods Group invite you to join us for another vibrant symposium on creative research methods on Tuesday 25th February 2025 14:00-15:30 GMT on Microsoft Teams.

This session features:

Kerry Lemon, Independent Artist and B-Corporation – ‘NYRA: Using Art and Science to Drive Sustained Climate Action in West Africa’
Nyra is an art-sci collaboration by co-founders, Creative Director Kerry Lemon and Agricultural Economist Dr Amanda Lenhardt, which aims to explore what can be done to motivate behaviour change to mitigate the climate crisis, with a specific focus on engaging higher-income individuals to support climate-smart agriculture in West Africa. In return, investors will receive both tangible returns and narrative updates, and their emotional responses will be studied to understand what drives sustained climate action.

Maria Teresa Braga Bizarria, Victoria University of Wellington: ‘Gardening as a (Co-) creative Method for Exploring More-than-humans’ Agency in/and Participants’ Reflexivity’
Drawing on a feminist posthuman approach, Maria used more-than-representational methods to explore the experiences of women interacting with community gardens in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. Her research suggests that gardening, through direct engagement with more-than-human beings, can be a fruitful method for mapping participants’ affective drives and emotions, and signalling dynamics of social (re)production.

The group is supported by the Centre for Arts and Wellbeing. It is open to all who share our passion for creative methods and our desire to provide a supportive, stimulating space within which to explore these. No advance sign-up is required; just turn up on the day if you wish to join us.
