Hands-on practical experience is really beneficial for developing your skills which is why all of our media and film courses include a placement opportunity (this is often in your second year). 

Each of our courses have slightly different placement options but you’ll get the opportunity to spend at least two weeks at an organisation where you can apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to real-world projects. We have strong relationships with a large network of local and national companies which means you’ll be able to get a placement that matches your interests and future career goals. Many of our students have also been offered employment from their placement providers so it’s also a great way to gain connections throughout your studies.

4. State of the art facilities 

All students on any of our film and media courses can take full advantage of our wide range of camera, lighting and sound equipment and full-service post production tools. 

Our Apple Mac labs have industry standard software for visual/sound editing and screenwriting (including Adobe Creative Suite, Pro Tools, Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve and Final Draft). We are also an Avid authorised training centre for Media Composer and Pro Tools (the industries preferred editing platform). 

We are continually adding to the technical hardware that is available for practice workshops, assessment and your own projects. Currently we use Black Magic and Sony 4K Cameras, Sound Devices audio equipment and hold a large array of professional lighting and grip equipment.  

Our production equipment facility can be used to create productions of every type and genre. So whether you’re interested in creating music videos, documentaries, drama productions, a web series or any other type of production, Brighton has the facilities for you.

One of the exciting opportunities open to our Film BA(Hons) students is the chance go on an international exchange. You’ll be able to immerse yourself in an international film environment whilst learning new skills at the same time.  

Currently, students have the opportunity to study at either the Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore and SRH University in Germany. 

By doing an exchange programme you’ll not only learn more about different filmmaking techniques but it’ll also help you to grow a network of global peers and professionals. This can open doors in the future and give you a real edge in the industry.

Our film and media graduates are making their mark in the industry and you could be next! In the 2022 Longitudinal Education Outcomes report, the University of Brighton was in the top 35% for graduate earnings in creative arts and design, three years after graduating.
