One of my first activities for my course is to present a paper at the Steps for Success Conference held at Cecil Sharp House, London on March 12.

The title of my paper is The Morpeth Rant: Evolution of a Dance. I will be be discussing the origin, its collection in 1928, publication in 1931 and subsequent changes to the dance since. I will be speaking at 11.30 sharing the hour with Robert Moir who’ll be speaking about Pat Shaw and John Playford.

It’ll be an excellent day: other contributors included Derek Schofield, Chloe Metcalfe, Kerry Fletcher and Mike Wilson Jones.
