Lino-print from my observational drawings

These are some lino-print experiments based on observational drawings of my hands and feet. I was experimenting with how I applied the paint to the lino-print to create different outcomes with different textures. I liked the way the prints came out with the texture but prefer the prints with the traditional application of paint.  I also experimented with using two layers with the foot print, to fill in the toenails.

Lithography module

In this session we were introduced to using zinc plates, this workshop was primarily focused on how to use the plate to create texture and marks. I learned that the plate is very sensitive to touch and the slightest touch will create a mark, also with the plate you can use different materials to create a variety of lines and shade. Including experimenting with white spirit, blowing bubbles and many other techniques.

Manifesto project: Initial ideas/ illustrations

My initial idea for the manifesto project was to focus on body image and the impact the media has on the way we view ourselves. I was looking into protest art and more specifically the hand painted placards. I decided to trial with type and explore the impact it can have on meaning. I also trialled with creating mark making and intended to scan them in to make illustrations.
