Today I completed one of the shoots that I have had planned from the very beginning stages of the FMP.
Despite having this planned for a long time, I was quickly faced with a problem that I worried had compromised the whole creative direction of this shoot…
The issue I had was that despite emailing a month prior the shoot, the planned location wasn’t open until 18:30 that day.
I had originally planned to shoot at the Barbican within the conservatory to relay the intended reflection of the song this shoot was influenced by however, due to this being closed until the late evening I was not able to go ahead with the original plan. This heightened my stress levels before I had even arrived in London.
I tried to think of other places that would allow me to shoot in my desired location but wasn’t able to find somewhere else so last minute that suited properly so was forced to adapt and overcome with the original plan.
While I had my heart set on using the conservatory to shoot the ‘jungle’ aesthetics of the song, I started to think about a tutorial I had with Eloise earlier this week. When discussing the first shoot I had done, she asked if some elements were slightly cliche. This query made me to feel more comfortable in adapting this shoot into a location that wasn’t directly obvious to the original plan of this shoot because it allowed me to capture images that were more conceptual than cliche to the influences of the song.
While I had intended to shoot in this location in the original plan, I had intended the shots in this location to juxtapose against the shots within the conservatory…
I’m aware that while I wasn’t able to shoot in the conservatory this time, I can potentially try again at a later date but plan on seeing how the shots within this shoot come out once I have spent time editing them in post production.
I’ve also had the idea to try to find a way to use post production to produce outcomes into edits into that incorporates the obvious ‘jungle’ aesthetic I had originally planned for this shoot.
