Proposal:
Konnichiwa-Sensei is a language learning game where the player experiences story and gameplay that gradually establishes, progresses and practices the use of the Japanese language in the learner. It does this by slowly shifting the dialogue and onscreen interface to use more and more of the target language – eventually creating fully immersive story telling in Japanese.
There were two main technologies developed for this project. A game based on the unity engine that makes use of a variety of different software and the C# coding language used in the scripts; and a game controller which has been designed according to the principles of “DIstributed Design” and can be made from home with no experience.
