20th March

Today the weather was wet and drizzly so we only worked until 11.00am. Most of our activities centered around clearing the hazel coppice site and winding down the pea stick, bean pole production line. Signs have gone up around Cuckfield’s allotment sites offering the bundles at £5.00 each – all proceeds to the New England Wood fund. I have now fitted a new handle to our favourate club hammer which we are all happy with as our other hammer is incredibly heavy. Around 11.00am John, Stephen and I went to view a motorised wheel barrow to see if it would be suitable for our woodland. Sadly we decided it was too heavy for our pathway system but it was a very generous offer to allow us to view it before anyone else.
