9th May

Today we had ten male volunteers, this is the first time I can remember this happening. We made good progress on rebuilding pathways around the eastern side of the wood where it becomes prone to water logging in wet weather. Each part of the wood has a name and this is called Sedges. I will try and drop these names in now and then and upload a map showing their location. Yellow Archangel wild flowers are popping up amidst the bluebells. They will be together for a few days before the bluebells start to disappear leaving the fresh yellow stems standing proudly upright. Pulling up sycamores is not everyone’s favourate job but a small group are making good progress in keeping down this prolific grower. The group stopped early to celebrate John’s birthday – a very male affair!
