Latest commit – 13/06/25

The latest batch of commits to master has a few changes, one quite significant.

The bundled EnergyPlus version is now 25.1. This is due to getting an apple silicon mac in the office, and I wanted to take advantage of the apple silicon optimised builds. The bundled EnergyPlus is still for Intel macs to keep compatibility, but you can set the custom EnergyPlus directory in the VI-Suite addon settings to an apple silicon installation if you have an m-series mac. I had to make a couple of changes to the VI-Suite for the newer EnergyPlus version, but nothing too major. Needs testing though.

The same applies to Radiance. Bundled versions are still the latest release (5.4) for x86_64, but again custom directories can be set in the addon preferences to take advantage of newer, pre-release, apple silicon builds. I have not detected any problems or changes with the pre-release builds.

On OS X, FloVi now also looks in the local directory for a Docker Desktop installation as well as the system one. Also fixed a FloVi bug with surface volume flow calculations on OS X and Windows.

EnVi got better error reporting if there is something wrong with the EnergyPlus input created by the VI-Suite

The LiVi Context node has been rejigged to make CBDM time selection more reliable.

Object based embodied carbon analysis got some bug fixes.

VI Metrics node should now auto-update more reliably.

AuVi got a fix for the new QT6 progress window.

These changes have now been promoted to a beta8 branch for Blender 4.4, and can be downloaded from the Downloads page.

With the limited testing I have done this is starting to feel close to a release. You may tell me otherwise, but if not the next branch may be a release candidate.

Cheers.

Ryan
