Key dates/timings in a typical academic year for a typical student

• July – October students are approaching possible placement organisations.
• Middle of October – December students submit applications in the form of CVs or covering letters to prospective placement providers.
• Following receipt of contact from a student – provider organisations arrange a date for an interview conversation. Interviews can take the form of an informal conversation, a panel, a presentation or any other format the provider organisation deems appropriate.
• Following conversation or interview a start date and work patterns are agreed.
• End of April – placement hours to have been accrued and signed off by the end of April.
• Mid May – placements host to have reported to the student

N.B in order to maximise access to a wide range of placement and professional learning contexts, the University recognises the need to facilitate opportunities outside of the typical University cycle. There is clear scope for progressing students to carry out a proportion of pre-placement and placement work prior to the start of the next level of study. Such opportunities can be discussed on a case by case basis.
