Your study environment: What it’s like to study at the University of Brighton

Brighton is the perfect student city. There are plenty of on campus study spaces and facilities, as well as off campus places for you to study.

Find out more about the learning environment at the University of Brighton and our favourite study spots off campus, plus how you can save some money as a student in Brighton.

Studying on campus

Brighton has three campuses in Brighton. All campuses have a library for you to study in, as well as cafes, so you can get convenient food and drinks (think coffee!) for your study sessions.

With study-friendly opening hours and a dedicated library support team on hand, it’s easy to find a quiet place to focus or a space to work together.

All campuses are well connected by public transport, with student-discounted bus travel and walkable routes across the city, helping students keep travel costs low while getting to know Brighton.

Studying off campus

Beyond campus, Brighton offers a wide range of cafés and independent spaces where students can study.

Many of these venues are designed with students in mind, offering plug sockets, flexible seating, and welcoming spaces for both solo and group study.

Studying off campus is also a great way to explore different parts of the city.

Some of our favourite study spots in Brighton

PLATF9RM

PLATF9RM is a co-working space, making it a popular option for group study sessions or days that require extra focus.

Students can book rooms or purchase day passes, which include free tea and coffee, unlimited Wi-Fi, and access to a professional working environment. Day passes start from £25, making it a good occasional option for collaborative projects or exam preparation.

Alcampo Lounge

Located on London Road, Alcampo Lounge is a relaxed café-restaurant with a quirky interior and plenty of plug sockets, creating a comfortable space for studying outside of campus.

Pelicano Coffee Brighton

Pelicano is one of Brighton’s best-known independent coffee shops, with multiple locations across the city.

Known for its quality coffee, welcoming staff, and student-friendly workspaces, Pelicano has flexible study spots for individuals or small groups.

Everyday savings for students

Many cafés across the city offer discounts or loyalty rewards for bringing a reusable cup or travel mug, making it an easy way to reduce the cost of your drink.

The same applies on campus. University cafés offer reduced prices on most hot drinks when students bring their own cup. It’s a simple habit that can help keep everyday spending down.
