University of Brighton International College students celebrate completing their pathway courses
Students from the University of Brighton International College (UBIC) celebrated finishing their degree preparation courses with a picnic in the Brighton sunshine.
These students are now set to continue their academic journey at the University of Brighton this September.
On a sunny afternoon, staff and students came together to enjoy a picnic and a seaside classic – ice cream from an ice-cream van – which was especially appreciated during the warm summer weather. There was plenty of games, music and food, all in recognition of the hard work UBIC students put into completing their courses.
Colleagues at UBIC gave a heartfelt speech and hosted a small awards ceremony, handing out certificates and vouchers to acknowledge the students’ achievements.
We spoke to several UBIC students who reflected on their time so far.
Omar from Libya shared why he came to study in Brighton: “I love the beach and the weather. I have some friends who have studied here in the past, and they highly recommended it. I came to the UK to study English, but I saw that I was able to progress at UBIC.”
He also shared his advice for future UBIC students: “Just do it – you will not regret it at all. You won’t feel homesick because the staff make the college feel like your home away from home.”
Jules from Kuwait shared what she was most looking forward to on starting her course at the University of Brighton: “I’m excited to explore the campus more and experience the new cafes and social spaces!”
Jules will be starting her Graphic Design BA(Hons) within the School of Art and Media, based on our City campus in the heart of Brighton.
Pim from Thailand, who completed a pre-sessional English course at UBIC shared her experience of studying in Brighton: “I really love Brighton – I love the beach and the weather!
“All my teachers were really nice and supportive. I loved making friends on the course, so you should come here to study. It’s very good!”
We are delighted that everyone enjoyed their day, and congratulations to all UBIC students who have now completed their courses. We’re excited to welcome these students onto their degrees at the University of Brighton this September!
