Why I chose logistics and supply chain management at the University of Brighton

“One of the reasons I chose the University of Brighton is that it is ranked among the best five universities globally in research, particularly impacting management and business studies. Additionally, the University is a SAP member and offers students the opportunity to study and get critical SAP software skills, a globally popular enterprise planning system. Learning this system provides students a competitive edge in the job market since most organizations use it in their planning systems. Moreover, the course was an attractive prospect because it is accredited and fully recognized by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation (CILT) and the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). My choice for the course was based on this recognition, which demonstrated just how relevant or important it is in preparing students for career opportunities in the field. Lastly, I was attracted to the university’s location is in the heart of Brighton, one of the most scenic and beautiful tourist destinations. I intended this choice to be important for building my career, thanks to the state-of-the-art university and libraries, and a place where I can enjoy nature and the ambiance.”

What I have enjoyed most about the program so far

“I have found it interesting that the university has allowed us to hone our skills through first-hand experience. Through fieldwork and internship opportunities, students were allowed to interact with professionals in the field, thus developing critical competencies in the modern business environment. Students were passed through industry-based projects, which offered me valuable experiences. Thanks to the university’s collaboration with different transportation and logistics companies, we attended many enjoyable conferences. This allowed us to understand how logistics and transportation companies operate during actual business activities. The conferences also provided us with a perfect opportunity to create networks with experts in the logistics industry in the UK and professionals from different nationalities. The conferences and the internship opportunities provided me with a perfect opportunity to secure logistic recommendations that can become handy in the future and be updated about the latest trends in the industry.”

How my time at the University prepared me for my career

“Studying the Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc allowed me to learn numerous vital concepts and skills in the field. I realized how the knowledge I gained at the university was important in my career while working at the Supply Department in the navy. I used my university acquired knowledge to predict when stock should be replenished or future needs. My time at the university allowed me to understand different useful strategies of operation management. As a result, I am confident that I can comfortably handle operation management activities; for instance, create flow charts for various operations and find waste areas. The opportunity provided to all students undertaking the course in accessing SAP ERP training provided me with important skills in financial accounting, production planning, materials management, and supply chain management.”
