Events taking place after picketing on strike days

 

Wednesday 15th 

Demonstrate in London over the cost of living crisis with striking teachers, junior doctors, civil servants, tube workers.

Free rail transport from Brighton, Lewes, Eastbourne and Seaford. Arrive at the station before 10am.

 

Thursday 16th

2pm: Unveiling of Blue Plaque to C.L.R. James, the great Trinidadian historian, cricket writer and socialist at Southwick. Further details here.

 

Saturday 18th

TUC/Stand Up to Racism National Demonstration in London to mark UN Anti-Racism Day. Supported by UCU.

Monday 20th

Festival of Slogan Writing on picket lines!

12pm: Meeting: Report from BDM, Report from HEC, Discussion of where we are now. Upstairs at the King & Queen and on Zoom (hybrid).

1pm: Teachout Walking Tour led by Nick MyGlynn on ‘Brighton’s LGBTQ Spaces – Then, Now, Next’. Leaving from King & Queen just before 1pm, to meet at 1pm at the starting point of the fountain on Old Steine Gardens (map).

 

Tuesday 21st

12pm: Rally featuring Vicky Blake (Immdiate Past President, UCU), student supporters, other trade unions and open mic for other speakers.

At Grand Parade picket line.

1pm: Teachout led by Mark Erickson on ‘Moral Injury to HE workers during the Covid pandemic’.
