Jon Edgar artist workshop – Saturday 6 July 2024

Our second artist workshop of the 2023/24 academic year is with sculptor Jon Edgar on Saturday 6 July 2024.

For UBATO members Jon’s workshop is one of two options included in membership for the 2023/24 academic year – if you would like to attend both artist workshops we have a limited number of tickets that can be purchased for £60. Non-members are also able to purchase tickets for Jon’s workshop.

Jon is a British artist who uses improvisation in his practice, which tends to the figurative.

Large public stone carvings are worked on location using local people contrast with intensive clay portrait sketches of interesting sitters.

Teaching and communal working is an important part of his practice.

Jon teachers sculpture in a variety of media and techniques at West Dean College and has taught at the University of Sussex.

Jon is keen to share his expertise and experience of working in 3D materials with you as artists and as as educators.

He will introduce a broad range of 3D approaches that you will have the opportunity to experience and then discuss how you can introduce them in the classroom.
