Inspirational third workshop day
We welcomed 26 art teachers from primary and secondary schools to our third University of Brighton Art Teachers Organisation (UBATO) workshop day on Saturday 20 May.
Workshops on offer this time included eco printing, making survival blankets from crisp packets (pictured on the right), scrape painting, figure sculpting, needle felting and fusing fibres.
Some of the art teachers put on displays of artwork from their schools and there were lots of opportunities to network and discuss ideas.
Quotes from the day included:
“It can be a bit isolating to be a primary art coordinator, so these opportunities are fantastic to stay connected and get a new perspective.”
“The community aspect is great, the shared resources and the chance to experiment and learn.”
“Really enjoyed the workshops, lots of ideas I’ll use at a point in the next academic year.”
“Excellent resource and inspiration.”
“Inspirational and great fun, useful for school and own personal practice.”
“Motivational, stretched my creativity, pushed me to try new things and give me confidence.”
“Very informative, excellent for my own wellbeing.”
We are already looking forward to our next meeting on Saturday 8 July, when the artist Sarah Graham will be delivering an all day painting workshop to our members.
We also have a limited number of tickets for non- members to join this special workshop. Find out how you can join our 8 July artist workshop.
We are now open for UBATO membership for the 2023/24 academic year – learn more and join UBATO today!
