It’s week 2 of the blog and I’m here to teach you about the basic equiptment you’ll need to start your photography journey!
I personally have a DSLR camera – a Nikon D3400, which I have had since 2017 when I started college and my photography business. However, this doesn’t mean you need to go out and buy a fancy camera that costs you hundreds of pounds. Your phone definately has a decent camera that you can use. Below I’m going to list some things that you’ll need for taking amazing photos!
- Camera
Of course, to start taking photos you’ll need a camera! I’m sure everyone knows how to use their mobile phone camera, but I’d suggest that you start messing around with all the different features to help you get used to the different tools you have accessible to you. If you have a DSLR or another camera start messing around with the settings on that too. The more you mess around, the more you’ll learn!

2. Tripod
An extremely useful tool to use is a tripod! A tripod will help you to stabilise your camera when taking photos or filming, meaning no shakey videos or blurry photos!

You can really tell the difference in these two films!
3. Editing Softwares
As discussed in last weeks post, editing softwares are great and easy to access. Photoshop is a great option for people with a bigger budget, however free options like Photopea are accessible to everyone and work just as well! Your editing could be as simple as upping the brightness to as complicated as removing an object from your photo.

I hope this blog post helped you to figure out what equipment you might be interested in using and/or invesitng in. Next week we’ll talk about different lighting techniques!
