Panopto - Marking Video Assessments in My Studies

<h2>Marking Video Assessments submitted via Panopto</h2> If you've had students submit video assignments utilising Panopto, this is how you access the recordings, and mark them. Go into the Full Grade Centre (1). Hover over the cell of the video assignment column with the exclamation mark symbol with your mouse, this will allow you to see the chevron button, click this (2). <a href="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-Grade-Centre.png"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-2247" src="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-Grade-Centre.png" alt="Screencapture of the full grade centre in My Studies with the column of the video assessment being highlighted." width="471" height="413" /></a> Click on the bottom-most attempt in the drop-down menu. This is the latest/most recent attempt by the student, and is the correct one to mark. Click on the link to the video to view the student's submission. This will open the video in a new tab/window of your browser. <a href="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-Click-on-link-to-view.png"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-2249" src="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-Click-on-link-to-view.png" alt="Screencapture of the link to the student's submission being highlighted." width="447" height="244" /></a> If you do NOT see a link, here's why: <a href="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/wiki/frequently-asked-questions-faqs/missing-link-in-panopto-video-student-submission/">Student Video Submission Error</a> This is the viewing window. At the top, you can see the title of the submission (1). There is a 'play' button in the middle of the video-window to play the video (2). There is also a full-screen button if you wish to view the video that way (3) and finally, a 'download' button, if you wish to download the submission to your local computer (4)... We don't suggest downloading the video, as the files are very large, and a large cohort of video submissions will quickly fill your computer's hard-drive. <a href="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-Viewing-of-videos.png"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-2250" src="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-Viewing-of-videos.png" alt="Screenshot of the viewing window with the play button in the centre highlighted." width="532" height="361" /></a> Once y0u've viewed the video, you can close the tab/window to return to the marking window. <a href="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-once-watched.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2251" src="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-once-watched.png" alt="Screencapture of the x in the browser-tab being highlighted." width="523" height="244" /></a> Now you can enter the numerical mark for the work in the pink-box. Once you've clicked in this box, it will expand the 'feedback to students' window. <a href="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-Numerical-Mark.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2252" src="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-Numerical-Mark.png" alt="Screencapture of the pink attempt box for entering the numerical mark." width="504" height="330" /></a> In this window, you can see the area to give the student feedback on their work (1). You can also upload a word document or other file, using the add content button (2). In this window, there's also the Add Notes link (3) which allows you to add comments to your fellow markers/moderators. Students do NOT see thing added to the "Notes" area. Finally, there's the Submit button (4) which will save your marks for the assessment. <a href="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-Feedback-to-student.png"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-2253" src="https://blogs.brighton.ac.uk/teachingcontingency/files/2021/04/Panopto-Feedback-to-student.png" alt="Screencapture of the feedback window in My Studies for the assessment." width="297" height="365" /></a> Once you've clicked submit, the Marking Window will close, and you'll be returned to the "Full Grade Centre."
