Panopto has released version 10 of their Panopto Recorder application for Macintosh machines. This update fixes several bugs, and will hopefully improve the experience for Mac users. This update will be the software downloaded upon request from Panopto areas (if you’ve never installed it, there are many links to download the software, when one is attempting to record a video for the first time.)

If you have already installed the Panopto recorder on a Mac, the software will let you know that the new version is available, upon logging in.

From Panopto here are the issues that have been fixed/changed in the new version (the bold points below, were issues reported by University of Brighton users):
  • Added support for MacOS 11.0 (Big Sur).
  • Added localization for Japanese language.
  • Fixed an issue where a recording with FaceTime HD Camera (built-in camera) unexpectedly stopped in the middle of recording on some Mac devices.
  • Fixed an issue where Panopto for Mac completes the upload but Panopto server does not start processing.
  • Fixed an issue where a user was able to select the same video device for primary and secondary under certain conditions.
  • Fixed an issue where Panopto for Mac required a restart in order to recover from an error state.
  • Deprecated support for MacOS 10.13. Installation will fail with an error on MacOS 10.13.
  • This version does not support Mac hardware with M1 chip. Installation will fail as an error on such Mac devices.
