If you recorded your videos into a place other than the module itself, students will not be able to view the video. Here’s what they see:
So if you see an email from a student “Requesting Access” this is why. Your video is not actually in the module area, it is elsewhere.
Here’s how to move your video to your module area, and ensure that students can see the videos.
Generally, your video is probably in your Panopto My Folder. The My Folder is a place in Panopto for your private videos. These videos are not visible to anyone other than yourself.
If you want a video in your My Folder to be visible to students, you need to move it to a place where they DO actually have access, like a module area.
First, we have to go to your My Folder. Go to the Panopto Video link, in any of your module areas (1). In the dropdown next to the folder in the page (2), click on My Folder (3).
Once you’re in your my folder, you will need to expand the window to be fully in Panopto, rather than ‘with in’ My Studies. Click on the expand button in the upper right of the Panopto window.
Now that you are in the full-Panopto window, you will need to tick on the video that you wish to move to a module area, and more buttons will appear. Click on Move when you can see the button.
Now that you have clicked the move button, choose where you want your video to be sent. First, click on the drop down menu (1). Then click on My Studies 20/21 (2) and choose the module in which you wish the video to appear (3).
Now that you’ve chosen, you will see where you’re moving the video. If you’re happy with the location, click on the large green Move button.
The video is now in the correct Module folder. Any student enrolled on this module will now have access to this video.
If you are simply using the Panopto Video link in the My Studies side folder to contain your videos, and for your students to access the videos, you are now done.
If you wish to re-embed the video into the module area… Go back to your Study Materials area on the module, and choose to Build Content, Item.
In the Panopto Pop-out window, it will default to Choose. You can see the video you moved from your My Folder at the top of this list, choose the video by ticking it, and then scroll down the window to find the insert video button.
Click on the Insert Video Button.
Now the video has been placed in the Item (the yellow box) so now you can click Submit
And now the video is successfully embedded in your Study Materials area in My Studies, and your students will be able to view it.
