Question: My module in My Studies is empty. How can I copy over content from the last instance of my module?

Answer

Your options are:

  • Copy each folder individually over to the new module area. This is the preferred method as it means that you are intentionally copying specific content across. Here are instructions for that. ‘Copy’ is an option in the chevron button on the right of each folder.
  • There is a bulk copy option available, but you must use it with extreme care. You must also delete the duplicate materials brought over from the copy. The key point is that you should only selectively copy the ‘study materials’ area, using the checkbox provided. Do not copy ‘Module Information’ or ‘Assessment &/and Grades/Marks’. Here is the guidance on that process (typically used for copying ‘tests’ as in the document). If you have a ‘discussion board’ then this method can be used to copy over the starter threads as well, as a sort of FAQ. In that case you would also tick the chekbox for disscussion board starter threads.

I have been working in the Educational Technology field within Higher Education for eleven years. A big part of my job is finding new and innovative ways of integrating technology into current teaching and learning methodology. This can include assisting academic staff with Virtual Learning Environments/Learning Management Systems (Blackboard), implementing specific software packages, maximising current technologies and championing new ones. I find this profession both riveting and rewarding. I really enjoy life on the cutting edge, but I also enjoy being able to help staff achieve small and meaningful efficiencies; sometimes that makes all the difference.
