GREEN-ICU is a multi-disciplinary initiative aiming to develop evidence-based guidance for reducing the environmental footprint of intensive care practice.
The GREEN-ICU collaboration is led by Dr Heather Baid from the University of Brighton.
Current research workstreams include:
- Systematic review of the literature
- Staff views evaluation – survey, interviews and Twitter chat
- Procurement evaluation – carbon footprint analysis
New research workstreams will involve evaluating materials, design, energy, waste management and the circular economy for improving the environmental sustainability of intensive care units in a way that also brings financial and social co-benefits.
