The university’s weekday shuttle bus service, UB1, links all of our Brighton campuses and Varley Halls during term time.

The UB1 service operates a circular route from the Falmer campus to Old Steine, taking in Varley Halls, Moulsecoomb campus and The Level.

The low emission bus is fully-accessible with a 74 person capacity,  free on-board Wi-Fi and phone charging points.

Students are required to show and scan their Unicard to board the bus. Students must have a Unicard and students not in possession of their card will not be allowed access to this service.

Please note the bus has a  74 person capacity and is operated on a first come first served basis. Therefore seats cannot be guaranteed and if the bus is full other travel arrangements should be made. Information on other travel options can be found on the Travel pages.

Bus tracking app

New for 2019 you will be able to track the UB1 bus through the Brighton Uni Bus tracking app which is now available for download from Google Play or the App Store. Search for ‘Brighton uni bus’ and after installation, use your Unicard number (found on the front of your Unicard) without hyphens as the access code. The app provides real-time locations of the UB1 as well as onward journey information including train times and live updates from the Twitter feed.

Follow the UB1 Twitter Feed https://twitter.com/BrightonUniBus for service updates such as delays due to traffic, accident or weather – but please note this is not a live feed.

The standard timetable for the UB1 service 2019-2020, commencing Monday 23 September 2019, is as follows:

Please note the UB1 uses Stop S at the Old Steine, which is opposite the YHA Brighton Hostel. See this on Google Maps.
