Though no obvious connection to Sussex, ‘Sussex Brigaders Remembered’ was very sorry to hear of the passing of Hywel Francis, the Welsh socialist and labour historian who died recently – Hywel was the author of many works relating to Welsh ‘people’s history’, including Miners Against Fascism: Wales and the Spanish Civil War (1984) – which obviously does relate to this website. Our condolences to his family and friends and comrades. RIP.
