Training for Practice Supervisors and Assessors

Thank you for supporting our learner prescribers.

Each practice supervisor, practice assessor and academic assessor MUST undertake the training to fulfil these roles. This can be accessed at the university using the following link Practice Educator and Assessor Preparation (PEAP) – elearning for healthcare (e-lfh.org.uk), or some organisations are providing this in house.

We will continue to hold a data base of currency of PA PS and AA status at the university to ensure that students are supervised and assessed by practitioners with the knowledge, skill and experience required for prescribing practice.

The practice supervisor and practice assessor will need to meet the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (2021) Competency Framework for Designated Prescribing Practitioners. This will be supported by the module team as part of the training to meet these roles. The Competency Framework for Designated Prescribing Practitioners (RPS 2019) provides a robust structure for all prescribing practice supervisors and practice assessors. Using this framework will help those in a PS and PA role to consider what the student may need in terms of support and guidance to progress in the learning experience. It also enables refection on your own prescribing role, to develop and enhance your practice as a prescriber and as a PS and PA for prescribing learners. This framework can be accessed here:
