Community Clean Up event at Moulsecoomb – 23 March

We are organising a Community Clean Up event at Moulsecoomb on Thursday 23 March, and all students and staff are invited.

The event, which will last approximately two hours, starting at 1pm on Thursday 23 March at the staircase entrance to Moulsecoomb train station. Anyone wanting to take part should wear casual clothes and sensible shoes, and bring gloves if possible. All the equipment you will need will be provided. If you would like to take part, please email volunteering@brighton.ac.uk.

The Moulsecoomb Community Clean Up is part of the national Great British Spring Clean campaign, organised by Keep Britain Tidy. Research from Keep Britain Tidy found that more than 8.5 million adults in the UK have done litter-picking at least once in the past six months, showing that there is both a need and a desire for this kind of community action. For this eighth year of the Great British Spring Clean, the focus is on taking pride in your local community.

Mark Eslick, Head of Placements, Internships & Volunteering, said: “As part of the Great British Spring Clean 2023, staff and students are invited to take part in our Community Clean Up event. Volunteering to litter-pick is a simple action that anyone can do to make an immediate and visible difference to their area – 85% of those who took part in last year’s Great British Spring Clean reported that taking part made them feel more pride in their local area. And 74% said it improved their mood too!”
