News and events for University of Brighton students

Southern and Thameslink trail networks closures map

Reminder: Major rail closures next week

Starting this weekend, the train line between Three Bridges and Brighton/ Lewes / Hove will be closed for a period of nine days. Trains will be replaced with buses, which could result in significantly longer journey times for some passengers.

You can read the full details of the closure on our previous blog post. Nearly a third of University of Brighton students commute over 15 miles onto campus, so we know that this could have an impact on your ability to attend or engage with your studies.

How the university can help

We recommend that you check the details of your journey as soon as possible and get in touch with your course or module leader. Letting them know in advance will allow them to prepare for impacted attendance before the learning session. You can also speak to them about getting access to additional learning materials, such as the PowerPoint presentation and notes or recordings of sessions from previous years.

Students and staff affected by the rail closure who do not have an e-permit to park on campus can also apply for a temporary e-permit, which will be valid between 19-27 February. Parking is free for students but you must have a permit and all other parking restrictions will apply. Please email centralparking@brighton.ac.uk to apply for a temporary e-permit.
