To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week 2021 (starting 8 November), beepurple are bringing together a panel of creative practitioners (all former UoB students) to discuss what it takes to start from scratch and build up your own company. In this live Zoom event, our guests will share their business start-up tips and stories and answer any of your questions.

Meet the speakers

Heidi Swinyard, Founder of @teddybrightonuk, a bespoke art and gifts business. Heidi creates and sells personalised four-legged friends products, all made in England.

Rhi Dancey created @rhidancey making clothing from deadstock and vintage fabrics in her living room during covid. She now heads a small UK team making unique, bespoke and conscious fashion which is both inclusive and affordable.

James Gatheral, Co-founder of a creative agency @mammoth_creative. Since setting up just over a year ago, they’ve worked with over 30 clients, from local cafes in Colchester and events companies in Brighton to international businesses in Dubai, Canada, California, Sweden, and Florida. They’ve built a sustainable company for a group of friends to make a living doing what they love. They don’t dread Monday mornings.

Pete Barr is a product and graphic designer working in socially-led hardware. He is the Co-founder @the.soapstone, a sustainable hand sanitiser dispenser, and @enayball an accessible art tool for people with physical disabilities. He wants everything he designs to have a positive impact on people and planet.

Each of our amazing founders will share their stories and tell us:

  • Why they decided to start up their business
  • The challenges they’ve faced on their business journey and how they’ve overcome them
  • Their proudest achievement so far.

Then, we’ll open up the floor for a Q and A!

Looking forward to seeing you at this unmissable live event, where you can ask your peers for expert, real life advice on the realities of building a business. Hurry, as places are limited!
