Parking permits – Latest update 20 September 2019
Find out below for the latest updates on parking permit applications, the extension to permit-free parking, how to apply for a parking permit and how to appeal.
Permit-free parking extended
In order to allow additional time for the planning of travel arrangements, permit free parking at university car parks will now be extended until Tuesday 1 October, when parking charges are introduced.
All applicants who have applied for a permit before Thursday 19 September, will receive a decision on their application by Monday 23 September, unless we are waiting for further information (for example in relation to health conditions).
If you have not already done so you can apply for a permit here.
Please note that due to the limited number of e-permits available meeting the criteria does not guarantee allocation of an e-Permit either on a permanent or regular basis.
If you have not been successful in your permit application you may wish to submit an appeal.
In a number of cases, applications have had to be rejected on the basis of missing information. Examples include: no explanation of why travel by alternative means is not feasible and no supporting statement from a head of department for a business travel requirement. Should you wish to submit an appeal, please ensure that you provide comprehensive details to allow the team processing your submission a full understanding of your circumstances.

Evening and weekend permits
Please be reminded that staff and students wishing to make use of clubs, societies, library and sports facilities can apply for an ‘evening and weekend’ permit. This permit allows free parking outside of core hours (Monday – Friday 7am – 5pm) except on Brighton and Hove Albion match days at Moulsecoomb and Falmer. Any member of staff or student is entitled to an evening and weekend permit, there are no other eligibility criteria.
The university encourages all staff, students and visitors to travel as sustainably as possible to and from our campuses. You can find more information about sustainable travel options here.
