Join the Big Xmas Switch-Off

Switch off, cut carbon and win chocolate!

Before heading off for a well-deserved break, students and staff across the university will be coming together as part of our c-change campaign, to switch off unnecessary energy-guzzling equipment and lights. You can get involved and help us to cut carbon emissions during the university’s closure days.

See the poster below for a few top tips to help cut carbon (as well as your energy bills!) in your own homes whilst you’re away visiting family and friends over the holidays.

Helping refugee status students

As well as cutting our carbon emissions, by saving energy over the break you’ll be helping fundraise for the Global Opportunities Scholarship fund.  This fund aims to provide up to 6 full scholarships to students with refugee status who have been forced to flee their homes.

Last year, thanks to the fantastic efforts of staff and students, just over £1500 was donated to the fund. See here for the full results of last year’s campaign.

Plus – win chocolate!

The University’s c-change team is offering five Fairtrade and organic Green and Blacks chocolate boxes, in return for helping to spread the word about the Big Xmas Switch-off to your uni friends!

To be in with a chance of winning, just tweet about or post a photo of you taking part in the ‘Big Xmas Switch-off’, using the following tags: @_cchange_ #BigXmasSwitchOff.

Alternatively, you can post a photo or update showing what you’re doing for the campaign on the University of Brighton c-change Facebook page.

5 tweets or posts will be chosen at random and their authors will win a box of chocolates! We will announce the prize winners at the start of term, in January 2017.

Please click on the link to download the full Terms and Conditions. Good luck!
