Family Fun Day

All Falmer and PABS students, who are parents or carers, are invited to bring their children and partners to this year’s Family Fun Day.

This year’s free event will be held on Saturday 14 May from 10am to 12.30pm in the Checkland Building, Level 1, Falmer campus. No advance booking necessary.

‘Family Fun Day’ gives student parents and carers an opportunity to get to know one another and share their experiences of juggling family and student life. Last year’s event was a great success. One student who attended said; “My children are still talking about what a lovely time they had!”

There will be lots of activities available for children including a bouncy castle, face painting, reptile handling, and a soft play area. They’ll also be relaxing activities available for parents such as free hand massages.

Children’s books will also be available from the Open Learning Centre for those who would like some quiet time. Why not bring your partner or a friend along so that they can look after your little-ones while you study?

Refreshments will be available to buy from Costa Coffee and you are very welcome to bring your own food and drink.

Melanie Gill, Principal Lecturer and the Student Engagement Coordinator in the university’s School of Education, said, “Student parents/carers often have difficulties with looking after children, work and studies, and our aim is to bring them together so they can share experiences and tips on how to manage the demands on them. We are encouraging as many student parent/carers as possible to attend – it’s going to be quite an event.”

We hope to see you there. Please get in touch with the SSGT in your school if you would like more information.
