Navigating the Clearing Process: Your Gateway to University Life

Hello, the journey to university can be a mix of excitement, anticipation, and a fair share of nerves. One of the aspects that may seem daunting is the Clearing process. But don’t worry We’re here to guide you through it, ensuring you’re well-prepared and confident as you embark on this new chapter of your life.

So, what exactly is Clearing?

Clearing is a unique process that comes into play once you’ve received your A-Level or BTEC results. It allows you to contact universities of your choice to see if they have available places on the course you wish to study.

Universities often have places on their courses for students going through the Clearing process. It’s an opportunity for those who may be unsure of their grades or those who have decided to take a different path at this stage.

At the University of Brighton, we look beyond just grades. We consider all aspects of you as an applicant. Do you show passion and determination for the subject you wish to study? These qualities are just as important to us.

Now, how can you prepare for Clearing?

The key is research and finding out how Clearing works when you apply. Look into where you want to go and what you want to study. Are there one, two, or three universities offering the same course? Are there different course alternatives you can consider if places are full?

For example, you may wish to study Nursing and Midwifery, but if places are full, you could consider Child Care, Child Nursing, or a different course that looks at Adult Mental Health instead.

This process can be stressful, but remember, there are always loads of other ways and opportunities that you can explore if you don’t make it into university. The Clearing process is not the end of the road; it’s just a different path leading to your destination.

If you wish to learn more and get advice about Clearing and the places that are at the University of Brighton, head to the Clearing pages on the website. The uni is here to support you every step of the way, ensuring your transition to university life is as smooth as possible.

Good luck – and do your research!

Remember, university is not just about the degree; it’s about the journey, the experiences, and the lifelong friendships you’ll make along the way. So, take a deep breath, do your research, and embrace the opportunities that come your way. We can’t wait to welcome you to our community!

Here’s to the start of an exciting journey. We look forward to seeing you soon!
