Do you receive the ‘elsewhere’ rate of student finance? You may be asked to confirm your living arrangements

The Student Loans Company (SLC) is undertaking a review of Maintenance Loan assessments of students who are receiving the ‘elsewhere or own home’ rate of Maintenance Loan.

Their Customer Compliance team will be contacting a sample number of students to confirm their living arrangements. This could be via email, letter or text and they will be asking you to provide bank statements confirming rent payments made for the current academic year plus one of the following:

• accommodation contract
• confirmation of place in halls of residence
• tenancy agreement if staying in privately rented accommodation

You can remove your bank account number and sort code from the bank statements.

This is a genuine request, but if you are worried it may be spam, please contact the Student Advice who can check this for you or answer any questions you may have. Failure to respond to this request may result in subsequent payments being blocked.
