Still waiting to receive your student finance? Find out how we can help

This year, for a number of reasons, most particularly the pandemic, Student Finance have been extremely busy, and their processing times are very slow, so many students are finding that their loan assessments are dragging on and on……

It is very confusing and frustrating when you don’t know what to do next, or you don’t even know whether you will in fact get your student loan, and of course it is very worrying when you don’t have any money in the bank.

If you are in short term financial difficulty, or if you don’t understand why your loan has not been approved – or has not been income assessed, you may need some support from us.

The Student Advisers are here to help you find out what is going on with your application. We understand the complexities of the Student Finance regulations and processes and can give advice about evidence which you may have been asked to provide, or how to go about getting funding for repeat study if you failed a module in the past because of illness.

We can speak to Student Finance on your behalf if you give permission for us to do that, this is called  consent to sharecontact us for advice on how to set this up.

Our service is confidential, non-judgemental and free of charge, and we are available every weekday by email, but if you prefer to phone us, we are answering calls, Monday to Thursday on 01273 642888 between the hours of 10am and 3pm.

Within the university, we can liaise with the Accommodation team about unavoidable delays to rent payments and let Income know if there problems with the Tuition Fee Loan. Outside the university, we can offer some guidance around how to communicate with your landlord and advocate on your behalf if necessary. We know that this intervention can help to alleviate the stress of these situations.

We always look forward to hearing from you and we are here to help

Best wishes
