Student Advice Service – Money Matters

News from the Student Advice Service at the University of Brighton

Summer Fund is open to continuing undergraduate students

We are launching a Summer Fund for students who are facing significant financial challenges over the long summer summer vacation. The fund comes in the format of a non repayable payment.

Who can apply

We welcome applications from any full time, continuing, undergraduate student who is in financial hardship, particularly if you are unable to work over the holiday and you fulfil one or more of the following criteria:

  • You have caring responsibilities – for a child, relative, partner or other adult
  • You have health issues, you are a disabled student or you are due to have medical treatment over the summer months
  • You are a care leaver/estranged student
  • You have other exceptional circumstances

If you live with a partner, we can only consider an application if your partner is financially dependent on you.

How to apply

The Student Advisers can answer all your questions and send you a form, so if you are a Home or EU student, please contact studentadvice@brighton.ac.uk for more information and an application form. If you are an international student, please contact internationaladvice@brighton.ac.uk

We respond to emails very quickly, but please tell us if you would prefer a call back on the phone or via Teams.

Please read the application carefully and be sure to return the completed form with all the documentary evidence we need, which should support your circumstances.

Application forms and supporting evidence should be sent to funds@brighton.ac.uk by Friday 3rd July.

Resources are limited and we anticipate a high demand on the fund this year. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee awards, so please apply in plenty of time.
